Official WAEC WASSCE 2026 Timetable for School Candidates in Ghana Released
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the final timetable for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2026, exclusively for candidates in Ghana. The document, dated March 2026, provides a comprehensive schedule covering practicals, orals, project works, and theory papers from April to June 2026.
This timetable is crucial for all final-year students (Class of 2026) preparing for the examination. Schools and candidates are advised to strictly follow the schedule, noting that times are in GMT.
Key Highlights of the 2026 WASSCE Timetable
- Project Work & Practical Papers: Many Visual Arts, Technical, and Vocational subjects (e.g., Basketry 3, Ceramics 3, Graphic Design 3, Foods and Nutrition 3, etc.) have project works and practicals scheduled from Tuesday, 7th April to Monday, 27th April 2026 (and some continuing later). Dates and times for most project works will be arranged by the Council.
- Oral Examinations: Ghanaian languages (Dagaare, Dagbani, Ewe, Fante, Ga, Twi, etc.), French, Arabic, and English Language orals are spread across April and May.
- Core Subject Papers: Major core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies appear in May and June.
- Public Holidays: Important breaks include:
- Friday, 1st May 2026 – Workers’ Day
- Tuesday, 26th May to Thursday, 28th May 2026 – Eid-al-Adha / Children’s Day
Important Notes from WAEC
- Difference in Time on Question Paper and Timetable Where the duration on the question paper differs from the timetable, the one on the question paper should be followed.
- Question Papers Given in Advance
- General Knowledge in Art Paper 3 will be given to candidates two weeks before the exam.
- Project Work Papers (Basketry, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Leatherwork, Picture Making, Sculpture, Textiles, Jewellery, etc.) will be forwarded to candidates two weeks in advance. Exact delivery dates will be communicated through schools.
- Extra Time for Special Needs Candidates Visually impaired and hearing-impaired candidates will be allowed one and a half (1½) times the normal duration allotted to other candidates.
