Education Ministry Reschedules 2026/2027 CSSPS Results 

The Ministry of Education has postponed the release of the 2026/2027 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results from the original date of Monday, 31 August 2026, to Friday, 4 September 2026.

The decision, announced in a press release issued on Sunday, 30 August 2026, and signed by the Ministry’s Press Secretary, Hashmin Mohammed, responds to requests from parents, guardians, students, and Heads of Schools for extra time to complete the submission and uploading of students’ data onto the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and CSSPS platforms.

Why the Delay?

Ministry data revealed that approximately 20,000 qualified students had not yet had their school choices uploaded onto the CSSPS platform by their Heads of Schools, parents, or guardians. Without this information, these candidates risked being excluded from the placement exercise for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.

The extension is intended to give all eligible students a fair chance to complete the required processes and ensure their details are properly captured in the system. The Ministry has urged affected stakeholders to use the additional days productively to submit and upload outstanding information before the new deadline.

Context of the 2026 CSSPS Exercise

This year’s placement process involves more than 620,000 candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). About 600,000 placement spaces are available across SHS and TVET institutions, expected to accommodate roughly 90% of candidates.

Key features of the 2026 guidelines include:

• Candidates must select eight schools in order of preference.
• A maximum of two Category A schools is allowed.
• Up to three Category B schools, with the remaining choices from Category C.
• Candidates may select a maximum of five boarding schools and three day schools.
• Placement considers aggregate scores, programme preferences, boarding/day status, and available vacancies declared by schools.

The system is designed to be automatic and merit-based once data is complete, matching candidates’ results and choices against school vacancies.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to a fair, transparent, efficient, and orderly placement process that gives every qualified student a meaningful opportunity to secure admission into an SHS or TVET institution. Officials emphasised that the short postponement prioritises inclusivity over strict adherence to the original timeline.

Parents, guardians, and school heads are encouraged to act quickly. Candidates can check or update their submitted school choices via the official CSSPS portal (where available) before the final results are released.

What Happens Next?

With the revised schedule, the 2026/2027 CSSPS placement results are now expected on Friday, 4 September 2026. After the release, successful candidates will proceed with the usual processes of confirming placements, reporting to schools, and completing any required documentation.
