2. Official GES Instructions to Schools (Letter Dated 15th April 2026)
The Ghana Education Service has written to ALL REGIONAL DIRECTORS OF EDUCATION (Ref. No. GES/S&ID/BECE/2026/005) with clear directives for schools that will host the BECE. The letter, signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah (Director, Schools and Instructions Division – Secondary) on behalf of the Director-General, focuses on three major areas:
i. Engagement of Students (Continuing Students) Heads of schools must ensure that Form 1, Form 2 and all continuing students are meaningfully engaged in alternative activities during the BECE period (4th – 11th May 2026). These activities must not require the use of classrooms that have been designated as examination halls. The goal is to maintain order, discipline and productivity throughout the period.
ii. Use of Dormitories In schools where dormitory facilities will be used to accommodate BECE candidates, Heads are directed to grant a short break to Form 1 and Form 2 students. This is to ease congestion and provide adequate space and comfort for the examination candidates.
iii. Resumption of Students All affected students are expected to resume immediately after the BECE period ends so that academic work continues without any disruption.
The GES has emphasized that these measures are necessary to ensure a smooth, well-organised and peaceful conduct of the examination while protecting the welfare and discipline of all students.
School heads have been instructed to communicate these directives to all relevant staff and ensure strict compliance.
Why This Information Matters to You
- For Candidates: Know your exact dates and times. Print or save this timetable and revise accordingly.
- For Parents: Support your child with a calm environment and ensure they arrive early at the centre.
