What is the NextGen Africa Workforce Fellowship?
This pan-African programme combines three powerful elements:
- A 100% online, U.S.-accredited Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Nexford University.
- Structured leadership mentorship and executive sessions with some of Africa’s most respected leaders.
- An AI-relevant curriculum focused on digital literacy, adaptability, and global competitiveness.
Unlike traditional degrees, the Fellowship is built for working young people. Participants can study flexibly while keeping their jobs or building businesses, committing a minimum of 15 hours per week to coursework.
The programme targets Africans aged 18–28 who are at the early stage of their careers and ready to invest in long-term growth.
Distinguished Mentors and Executive Exposure
Fellows will gain direct insights from high-profile African leaders, including:
- Dr. Oby Ezekwesili – Former Vice President of the World Bank and Nigeria’s former Minister of Education
- Ameenah Gurib-Fakim – Former President of Mauritius
- Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka – Former Deputy President of South Africa and former Executive Director of UN Women
- Chude Jideonwo – Media entrepreneur and storyteller
- Rinu Oduala – Youth civic leader and social impact advocate
- Oluseun Onigbinde (Seun Onigbinde) – Public finance reform advocate and civic tech founder
Additional guest speakers from business, tech, and innovation sectors will feature in each cohort.
Why This Programme Matters for Ghanaian Youth
According to a recent Nexford-Jobberman report, 55% of advertised jobs in Ghana now require a Bachelor’s degree, yet access to quality higher education remains limited for many. Degree holders earn over 300% more than those with only secondary education.
With AI reshaping industries, the Fellowship emphasises skills that employers increasingly demand: digital fluency, problem-solving, leadership, and adaptability.
Nexford University already has a growing community of learners and graduates in Ghana, making this launch particularly relevant for local youth.
Fadl Al Tarzi, CEO of Nexford University, stated:
“Africa is entering a defining decade. Talent is not the constraint preparation is. As AI reshapes industries globally, young Africans need both the skills and the exposure to compete and lead from the start of their careers.”
Oby Ezekwesili added:
“Africa does not lack talent. What we must build intentionally is leadership capacity. This Fellowship focuses on preparation, discipline, and responsibility.”
