What is AFRIKA KOMMT?
AFRIKA KOMMT is a flagship corporate initiative by German industry, implemented by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) and supported by the German Foreign Office and the President of Germany.
Now in its 15th intake (2026–2028), the programme brings together 35 outstanding young African professionals for a one-year intensive fellowship in Germany. You will be placed in leading German companies for hands-on experience while receiving world-class leadership training.
It is not a study programme, it is a professional fellowship designed to create long-term bridges between Africa and Germany.
Who Can Apply? – Full Eligibility Criteria
You must meet ALL of the following (official requirements):
- Be a citizen of any African country (including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, etc.)
- Hold a university degree in a relevant field (postgraduate degree such as MBA is a strong advantage)
- Have 2 to 5 years of relevant professional work experience
- Be 35 years old or younger at the time of application
- Have excellent English language skills (the programme is conducted in English)
- Basic knowledge of German is an advantage but not required
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential, teamwork skills, and the ability to adapt to new environments
No specific field is excluded participating companies cover sectors such as engineering, IT, finance, life sciences, manufacturing, and more.

- Assessment & interviews: April – May 2026

- Motivation presentation (PowerPoint or short video this is very important!)
- Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV)

- Download and carefully review the fellowship profiles of the 35 participating German companies (choose up to 5 that match your expertise).
- Check the “Am I Eligible?” section on the site.
- Create an account and fill the online application form.
- Upload all required documents.
- Submit before 22 March 2026, 23:59 CET.

Selection Process
- Applications screened for eligibility
- Shortlisted candidates invited for assessment interviews (April–May 2026)
- Final selection based on motivation, professional fit, and leadership potential
- Successful candidates matched with company placements
Important Notes & FAQs
- The programme is completely free for selected fellows (companies and partners cover everything).
- You must be ready to relocate to Germany for the full duration.
- Late applications are not accepted submit early to avoid technical issues.
- Only one application per person.
