The Individuals and Their Offenses:

  • Samuel Armah (Teacher): A teacher who was caught invigilating the exam with leaked Social Studies answers on his mobile phone.

  • Kwame Oteng Nkansah (University Student): Impersonated a registered candidate to write the exam for them.

  • Amedeka James (University Student): Also engaged in impersonation, notably by posing as his own twin brother to write the exam.

Sentences Handed Down:

  • Samuel Armah: Received an eight-month prison sentence and a fine of 80 penalty units.

  • Kwame Oteng Nkansah & Amedeka James: Each received a six-month prison sentence and a fine of 80 penalty units.

Broader Consequences:

In response to widespread cheating at the location, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has permanently shut down the Adventist Day SHS exam center in Kumasi. Municipal authorities have pledged to implement stricter oversight to protect the integrity of future examinations.
