Youth4Water Grants 2025–2026: Funding Open for Youth-Led Water Projects in Africa & South Asia
Overview
A new grant initiative, Youth4Water, is now accepting applications for 2025–2026. It supports youth-led organizations and groups in Africa and South Asia (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) to plan and implement community-driven water, sanitation, and drought resilience projects. The program is a collaboration between Protectol Health and the UNCCD Youth Caucus. Opportunities for Youth

Programme Objectives
The Youth4Water Grants initiative is designed to:

Support youth-led initiatives that improve access to clean water and promote sustainable water management

Strengthen the capacity of youth groups in planning and delivering effective water & sanitation projects

Promote community awareness and education on sanitation, hydration, and water sustainability
-
Contribute to the broader global water and climate adaptation agenda
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the grant, applicants must:

Be a youth-led organization or group, with the majority of leaders under 35 years old
-
Be based in Africa or South Asia
-
Focus on themes like water access, sanitation, drought resilience, or community awareness
-
Be legally registered (or show strong community recognition via letters of support)
-
Commit to implementing the project within 1 to 2 months after selection

Promote inclusivity and gender balance, involving marginalized or rural youth

While accreditation with UNCCD or association with the UNCCD Youth Caucus is preferred, it is not mandatory in this pilot round

Grant Scope & Support
Selected projects will receive:

Financial support (USD 2,000–2,500)

Technical, design, and communication support (e.g. branding, media) from Protectol
-
Visibility & recognition on Protectol Impact and UNCCD Youth Caucus platforms

Funds disbursed after verifying documentation (registration or community support letters), detailed project quotes, and bank details
Eligible expenses may include:

Local infrastructure (wells, filtration systems, rainwater harvesting)

Awareness campaigns and training materials
-
Community mobilization and engagement costs
-
Transportation associated with project execution
Ineligible expenses include:

Staff salaries or administrative overheads

Equipment not directly related to project goals

Selection Process & Criteria
