Teachers' anxiety, particularly among Deputy Directors, stems from social media reports claiming the Committee recommended that only those on the rank for 10-15 years would be automatically promoted to Director II, while those with less service would need to undergo interviews. This misinformation has led to significant frustration and personal attacks against Alorvi.

Alorvi clarifies that the circulated news item is not contained in the Committee's report. He assures teachers that their recommendations, if implemented, will facilitate easier progression for all teachers, alleviating current frustrations.

He urges patience, confident that his vindication will come when the report is made public. Alorvi acknowledges teachers' outrage as a testament to their high expectations of his integrity and leadership, which he pledges to continue upholding, and asks them to unite rather than allow a trust deficit to form.

He reaffirms his lifelong dedication to teachers' welfare, even in retirement.

KWAMI ALORVI APPEALS TO TEACHERS: STOP THE UNWARRANTED ATTACKS. On 28th May 2025, the Committee constituted by the Hon. Minister for Education to work out modalities for implementing government's policy on the progression of the Deputy Director rank and above within the Ghana Education Service submitted its report to the Minister. The Ministry, and for that matter government, is yet to make public the recommendations of the Committee and whether government accepts them or otherwise. However, social media has been agog with various speculations and reactions on the report yet to be made public. In the past four days, the reactions have taken a different turn with the Chairman of the Committee, Kwami Alorvi, coming under various forms of attack including insults on social media.

*TEACHERS' ANXIETY*

The anxiety among teachers, especially those on the rank of Deputy Director, has been about a news item on social media to the effect that our Committee has recommended that only teachers who have been on the Deputy Director rank for ten to fifteen (10 - 15) years should be promoted to the Director II rank. This gives the false impression that those on the rank for less than ten (10) years would not be considered for promotion. Another version of the message in circulation is that those on the Deputy Director grade would enjoy automatic promotion while those less than ten years would have to go through a promotion interview. This unfortunate reportage, no doubt has raised tension among teachers on the Deputy Director rank who have endured frustration for long, to a fever pitch, and only a little spark is needed to produce a conflagration. One of the most scathing attacks on my integrity and personality came from my junior colleague, Abaas Ababio, on a platform headed "DDs 4 RANK PROGRESSION." He alleged that *"There are stupid people who hail Alovi as a hero. He was a member of the committee to review licensure exams and DD progression but what he could do is allowed teachers who have been on the rank of DD for 10 to 15 years to be promoted to Director II."* Mr. Abaas continued: *"This is absurd, isn't it? Ur association leadership are there like toothless bull dog not saying a word. So do you think Anokye and his associates are rather exploiting the DD for progression? Alorvi is day dreaming and doesn't have concrete solution for teachers on DD rank for progression. It's a pity."* I called my junior colleague teacher, Abaas, to explain issues to him and I am glad to state that he understood that he crucified me based on false information. I'm grateful to you Mr. Abaas for your candid apology. Information gathered from almost all the teachers' WhatsApp platforms left me in no doubt that the disappointment among teachers in me is widespread. To them, a mentor, a fighter for teachers' welfare, a man they had confidence in, had let them down. One other post forwared to me by a sympathetic teacher *"cursed the womb of the woman who carried Kwame Alorvi for nine months and brought him into this world instead of aborting him."* Can anybody fault them for their frustration?

*APPEAL TO MY COLLEAGUE TEACHERS*

To all colleagues that are outraged about the unfortunate development and have attacked my personality, I understand your frustration and anger. I don't fault any of you for this outrage. I want to state with no equivocation, however, that the news item in the public domain *is not contained in our Committee's report.* On the contrary our report put up recommendations, which if accepted and implemented by government, will pave the way for all teachers to move up the ladder with ease and thus eliminate the current frustration among the Deputy Director rank and above. Let's all wait patiently for our report to be accepted and implemented by government.
