Understanding the 2025 CSSPS: A Complete Guide for Students and Parents
The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) has been upgraded for 2025 with enhanced security features to ensure a smooth and transparent process for placing BECE candidates into secondary institutions. Here's everything you need to know about the new system.
The School Placement will be on 17th September, 2025. The Students will then go to SHS from 18th October, 2025.School Categorization for 2025
Public Second Cycle Institutions have been categorized into three groups:

Category A: Overly subscribed Schools

Category B: Averagely subscribed Schools

Category C: Under-Subscribed Schools
Selection Criteria and Subjects
The placement system uses six subjects for selection:

Four Core Subjects: English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies

Two Best Electives: Computing, French/Arabic, Career Technology, Creative Art & Design, R.M.E., Ghanaian Language
Both aggregate and raw scores are considered in the placement process. Candidates are permitted to select schools across different regions.

How to Select Schools
For School Candidates:

Select seven second-cycle schools

Submit choices through JHS Heads to District Education Offices
For Private Candidates:

Select school choices online via https://www.waecinternetsolution.org

Selection dates will be announced when the portal is ready
For Foreign Students:
-
Purchase a foreign student's application form
-
Fill and submit to the Director for Schools & Instructions at GES headquarters, Accra
Placement Procedure
Placement is conducted based on merit, with school and programme options linked. In case of a tie, candidates' raw scores are compared for further discrimination.
Candidates not placed through the auto placement system can use the Self Placement Module:

Visit the CSSPS portal: www.cssps.gov.gh or www.cssps.org

Enter the index number and the PIN code

Select from schools with available vacancies

Print the placement form after submission
15% Public JHS Allocation
A significant policy for 2025:

15% of total vacancies in Category 'A' schools are reserved for Public JHS candidates

This allocation is automatic and not optional

To qualify, candidates must select a Category 'A' school

Strictly reserved for Public JHS candidates only
Partnership with Private Schools
Selected private schools will participate in the 2025 placement process. School heads can declare available admission slots through the system:

Click "Vacancy Declaration" under School Settings

View programs and available vacancies

Click "Declare" for each program

Input capacity and submit

Enter the candidate's index number and date of birth

Click "Sign In"

Unplaced candidates will be directed to the self-placement page
Enrollment Process for Schools
School administrators can enroll students through these steps:

Log in to the CSSPS portal

Click "Enrollments" under School Settings

Click the "New Enrollment" button

Fill in the required student details
