Year 2 Subject-Specific App Links
In this blog, I’ll break it down simple and clear, just like how I talk.
We’ll cover what the app is, why it’s great, step-by-step guides on how to use it, and direct links to get started for Year 1 and Year 2 subjects. Plus, I’ll include a look at the lesson planner template to make things even easier. Let’s dive in!
What is the MoE/GES AI-Powered Subject-Specific App?
The Ministry of Education announced this initiative on October 1, 2025. It’s all about introducing subject-specific Artificial Intelligence (AI) apps in SHS to make teaching better without messing with our Ghanaian values and culture.
These apps were made together by GES, NaCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment), NTC (National Teaching Council), NaSIA (National Schools Inspectorate Authority), and CENDLOS (Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling). They partnered with Playlab AI, and got support from T-TEL (Transforming Teaching, Education & Learning) and the Mastercard Foundation.
The goal? To help over 68,000 teachers plan lessons and assess for more than 1.4 million students. The apps use Ghana’s own stuff like teacher manuals, learner resources, national values, gender equality, and social inclusion frameworks. It’s not here to replace you – it’s a tool to make your job easier and keep everything aligned with national standards.
They’re piloting it through weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) sessions in all 712 SHS. Teachers can test, chat, and give feedback. There’s a four-phase testing: technical accuracy, educational quality, user experience, and regional testing. Nationwide training for over 7,800 school-based facilitators is set for October 2025.
A one-week intensive coordinators training happened across all regions to show how to use the app and train others during PLC sessions.
Why Use This App? Benefits and Features
This app is packed with features to make your life simpler. Here’s what it offers:
- Built on Local Resources: It pulls info directly from:
- Curriculum
- Teacher Manual
- Learner Materials
- Vision and Philosophy of the SHS curriculum
- 21st century skills and competencies
- National Teachers’ Standards
- West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Scheme of Assessment and Detailed Syllabus
- Learning Planning Template
- Teacher Assessment Manual and Toolkit
- Socio Emotional Learning
- National Values
- Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), and more
- Special Tools for Teachers: Chat with the app for feedback on lesson plans, assessments, differentiation, essential questions, and more. It suggests stuff based on your class size, location, and resources.
- Ethical and Local Focus: Everything is Ghana-led, so it fits our culture and ethics. It improves teaching outcomes while building trust.
- Complements Your Expertise: Use your professional knowledge to review and tweak what the app suggests. It’s a helper, not a boss.
The app has most resources from the curriculum microsite, so you don’t need to hunt around.
How to Use the Subject-Specific App: Step-by-Step Guide
Using the app is straightforward. Chat with it like a friend, but give details for better results. Here’s a simple guide:
- Get Your Items Ready: You’ll need:
- A functional laptop
- Internet connectivity
- Teacher Manual
- PLC Handbook
- Start the App:
- Click on the link for your subject (from the tables above).
- Enter your Region.
- Enter your School.
- Enter Number of students.
- Enter Week.
- Enter Duration.
- Click to Start.
- Have a Conversation:
- Ask what you need, like “Generate a lesson plan for this week.”
- Chat to review your assessment to suit your class and situation.
- Review your learning tasks, differentiation, essential questions, and more.
- Tell the app about resources you have, where your school is located – all that helps it suggest better stuff.
- Tips for Best Results:
- Don’t rush! Chat bit by bit instead of all at once. For example, ask for the introduction first, then main lesson.
- You can upload an empty learning plan and ask it to populate, but chatting step-by-step is better.
- Always review with your professional knowledge before using.

To make planning even smoother, use the Year Two Learning Planner Template. It’s a simple form to fill out. Here’s what it includes:
