How to Apply for Your LASU Transcript for International Schools: WES & SpanTran Guide
Transcript application is seamless when you know exactly what to do. This is a complete guide for Lagos State University (LASU) students – regular, undergraduates, distance learning, sandwich, and master's students. Based on our years of experience guiding people, this will help you make a seamless application.
Understanding WES and SpanTran Evaluation
When you apply for your transcript to be evaluated by WES (World Education Services) or SpanTran, it simply means your local university courses and grades are being converted to the standard used by foreign universities to be understood. This gives the organization the understanding needed to recruit you or admit you into their school.
Step 1: Start with WES or SpanTran
Before applying at LASU, you need to set up your evaluation:
- Create an Account: Go to the WES Portal to create an account OR go to the SpanTran Portal to create an account.
- Upload Your Documents: Upload the initial documents they require. (Note: These documents are not evaluated immediately).
- Get Your Identifier: You need to pay for:
- A Reference Number in the case of WES.
- A Case Number in the case of SpanTran.
- Critical Step: These are unique identification numbers given to you. You must ensure that all documents you request from LASU include that Reference Number or Case Number, or you will not be identified by WES or SpanTran.
Step 2: Online Application for Your LASU Transcript

Common Challenges We Have Identified (And Solutions)
Most applicants are able to make the application correctly after reading guides like this. However, here are some common errors:
-
Error 1: Forgetting WES Reference / SpanTran Case Number: Applicants forget to enter their unique identifier.
-
Error 2: Incorrect Numbers: Applicants enter the wrong Case Numbers or Reference Numbers (e.g., missing digits).
- Consequence: The document will be sent by LASU, but it won't be matched to your file at WES/SpanTran. You will be waiting, but they won't receive it under your name.
-
Solution 1: Double-Check Numbers: Make sure the Reference Number or Case Number you enter is correct by cross-checking it severally before submitting the LASU application.
-
Challenge: Application Delay / No Confirmation: Your application seems to be taking too long, and you haven't received confirmation from WES/SpanTran.
-
Solution 2: Follow Up with LASU:
- Contact LASU Main Campus (Students Records/Exams and Records).
- Inform them you made the application online and provide the date you applied.
- If they inform you it has been sent, ask them:
- The Reference/Case Number it was sent with (to confirm if you made a mistake).
- The Email Address it was sent to (if you were unsure).
- Be Proactive: Visit the campus to be sure without delaying further. No third party can help you if you don't help yourself.
