Insider Tips & Common Pitfalls

  • Work experience counts after graduation only—not during studies

  • English tests are not required by Chevening, but universities may need them—check per course

  • During interviews, applicants advise preparation for questions like:

“Tell us about yourself,” “Lead past challenges,” “Networking examples,” “Why the UK and this course?”

  • Fear of over-talking is common—balance confidence with precision

  • Tutors and similar self-employed roles do count if you can document the hours

Why Apply? The Chevening Advantage

  • Access to world‑class UK education and exclusive Chevening events and networking opportunities

  • Join over 60,000 alumni across more than 160 countries—lifelong global network

  • Leadership development with return-impact focus—it's not just a study program; it's a career and nation‑building springboard.

Chevening is competitive—but decisive, purpose‑driven applicants stand out. Start early, craft compelling narratives, and align your vision with both UK study and your home country's development. Follow this guide, and you'll have everything you need—no need to check anywhere else
