Admission requirements for the Nursing (BSc Nursing) program. 

For the University of Cape Coast (UCC)

1. WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants (Senior High School Graduates)

  • Core Subjects (Minimum grade: C6 for WASSCE or D for SSSCE):

    • English LanguageSeekers Consult Services

    • Integrated Science

    • Social Studies (not always required, but beneficial)

  • Elective Subjects (Minimum grade: C6 for WASSCE or D for SSSCE):

    • Three science electives from:

      • Biology

      • Chemistry

      • Physics

      • Elective Mathematics (may be required for some health science programs)

  • Aggregate Score:

    • better aggregate (lower score) improves chances (e.g., aggregate 24 or better for WASSCE).

2. Diploma Holders (Post-Diploma Applicants)

  • Must hold a Diploma in Nursing (Registered General Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, or Public Health Nursing) from an accredited institution.

  • Must be a registered nurse with Ghana's Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).

  • Must pass a competitive selection interview.

3. A-Level/IGCSE Applicants

  • Minimum of two (2) passes in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

  • Five (5) credits at O-Level, including English, Mathematics, and Science.

4. Mature Applicants (Age 25+)

  • Must be at least 25 years old by the time of application.

  • Must pass the Mature Entrance Examination (includes General Knowledge, English, Mathematics, and Science).

  • Must have relevant work experience in the health sector (an advantage).

Additional Requirements

  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates may undergo an interview.

  • Medical Fitness: Must provide a medical report confirming fitness for clinical training.

 Cut-off aggregates

 For admission into the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) program at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), based on recent admission trends and official guidelines:

1. WASSCE Cut-off Aggregate (Admission Cycle)

  • Competitive Aggregate Range14 – 24

    • Science Students (Best 6 Subjects):

      • Core Subjects (English, Math, Integrated Science) + 3 Best Electives (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

      • Strong applicants14–20 (higher chance of admission).

      • Moderate applicants21–24 (subject to competition).

    • General Arts/Home Economics Students (with Biology and Chemistry): These students may be considered, but with stricter cut-offs.

2. SSSCE Cut-off Aggregate

  • Competitive Range06 – 20 (A=1, B=2, C=3, D=4).

    • Strong applicants06–12

    • Moderate applicants13–20

3. Post-Diploma (Top-Up) Applicants

  • No fixed aggregate; selection is based on:

    • Diploma GPA (preference for 2.5 or higher).

    • Performance in interview (if required).

4. Mature Applicants

  • Must score 50% or higher in the Mature Entrance Exam.

  • Cut-offs vary yearly based on applicant performance and quotas.

  • Early application improves chances, as nursing is highly competitive

How to Apply for Admission to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) for Nursing

Step 1: Obtain an E-Voucher

Before starting your online application, you need to purchase an e-voucher, which contains a Serial Number and PIN required for registration.

  • Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG)

E-Voucher Fees:

  • Undergraduate (Degree) Programs: GH¢ 220.00

  • Diploma Programs: GH¢ 180.00

  • Certificate Programs: GH¢ 150.00

Step 2: Online Application Process

Once you have your e-voucher (Serial No. & PIN), proceed to the UCC admissions portal.

How to Apply Online:

2️⃣ . Select Application Type:

  • Click on "Click to Apply for a Programme".

  • Choose your program type:

    • Certificate

    • Diploma

    • Degree (Sandwich/Regular)

3️⃣ Log In with E-Voucher Details:

  • Enter the Serial Number and PIN from your e-voucher.

4️⃣ . Fill Out the Application Form:

  • Provide personal details (name, date of birth, contact info).

  • Enter academic qualifications (WASSCE, Diploma, etc.).

  • Select your preferred program(s).

  • Upload a recent passport-sized photo (white background, JPEG format).

5️⃣ Review & Submit:

  • Double-check all entries for accuracy.

  • Submit the form and wait for confirmation.

6️⃣ Print Application Summary:

  • After submission, print a copy of your application summary for reference.
