Programme Synopsis
Goal
The goal of the programme is to produce highly qualified graduates capable of applying the knowledge and skills in developing, advising, and implementing policies for the effective and efficient use of human resources in organisations.

- develop the capacity of students to apply various human resource theories and standards in evaluating conducive and safe work environments;
- equip students with the knowledge and skills to apply, identify, and solve various HRM problems in organisations; and
- Equip students with the skills to appreciate the nature of human behaviour and human resources law and their applications in different settings.

WHO SHOULD ENROL ON THIS PROGRAMME? The programme is suitable for entry-level professionals in diverse institutions and markets, as well as those interested in an academic career in the field of Human Resource Management. ELIGIBILITY The programme is suitable for G.C.E. ‘O’ level or SSCE/WASSCE and Mature candidates. Higher National Diploma (HND) holders can also apply to the BCom Human Resource Management top-up programmes. CERTIFICATE On successful completion of the programme, the student would be awarded a BCom degree in Human Resource Management by the University of Cape Coast. ASSESSMENT & EXAMINATION Candidates are assessed through presentations, assignments, and attendance/participation, which constitute 40%. The end-of-semester examination constitutes 60%. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The BCom HRM is by coursework. It is normally done in four academic years of eight semesters with a minimum credit load of 15 per semester.SEMESTER 1 | ||

- Applicant must pass the MATUREÂ entrance examinations in both the Subject Area Test (SAT) and the General Aptitude Test (GAT).
- Post-Diploma and Professional  Applicants for admission to level 200 or 300
- HND in any business-related programme from a recognised institution with a minimum of Second Class Lower.
- Any business-related diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, e.g. Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Education, Winneba.
- Any business-related certificate that the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), certifies to be equivalent to a tertiary diploma.
MBA. Human Resource Management
Entry Requirement
- Applicants must have a good first degree (at least a Second-Class Division) in any academic discipline from a recognised institution.
- Applicants with a third-class division may be considered for admission on the grounds of substantial working/professional experience. They will be required to pass an entrance examination prior to the selection interview.
- Foreign students with academic and professional qualifications equivalent to a degree and certified by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) may apply for admission.
- All applicants must pass a competitive selection interview to be considered for admission.
MPhil. Human Resource Management
Entry Requirement
- Applicants must have at least a second-class upper division in Human Resource Management or any other related business disciplines to be eligible for admission, and an official transcript of academic record.
- Foreign applicants with an academic equivalent are to meet the requirement of GTEC’s admission standards; such applicants should be able to provide evidence of proficiency in the English language.
