SLTF Begins 2nd Semester Loan Disbursement – Relief for Tertiary Students

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has officially started disbursing second-semester loans to tertiary students across Ghana. This development brings significant relief to many students, especially those in Private Tertiary Institutions whose academic calendars are more advanced than their public counterparts.

 Key Update:

As of Tuesday, July 1, loans have been successfully disbursed to 19,703 students nationwide.

Ahead of the ‘No-Fees-Stress’ Launch

This disbursement comes just ahead of the official launch of the “No-Fees-Stress” initiative, scheduled for Friday, July 4. The initiative represents a bold shift in how the government supports students with tuition financing.

“The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over,”
Ms. Saajida Shiraz, CEO of SLTF.

She emphasized that the revamped SLTF is now committed to delivering timely and dependable financial support to Ghanaian students.

 What This Means for Students

Faster and more reliable loan disbursements

Priority support for students whose academic timelines are tight

Renewed focus on equity and access in tertiary education

This move is part of broader efforts to ensure academic continuity and remove financial barriers that often disrupt students’ progress.
